• 2025 marks the 100th Anniversary of the formation of the United Church of Canada. Rivers United Church will mark this milestone at a special service on June 8, 2025. Worship will include Sunday school participation, lots of singing, and no formal sermon. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship with cake and ice cream!

• The Step 2 program will continue to be held in Friendship Hall on certain Friday mornings. This is a partnership between the Assiniboine Parent Child Coalition and RUC.

• The Council of Rivers United Church is moving ahead with a new project: a Stacked Stone Planter. This planter will be erected on the west side of the building to replace the old railway ties that mark the parking area. We are pleased to announce that we have received a substantial grant from the Rivers and Area Community Foundation to go towards the completion of this project. Individuals are also invited to make donations. 

• Money from the Memorial Fund will be used to replace four windows on the south side of the church building.

• Rivers United Church has applied for a federal grant to replace the ramp. 

• Rev. Barb Jardine is the Pastoral Charge Supervisor for Rivers United Church.

• Rivers United is pleased to announce that the repair and replacement of our four stained-glass windows is complete. This ambitious project was undertaken by Prairie Studio Glass out of Winnipeg, and the cost will be covered by a generous bequest from the late Don McFadden, a dedicated member of this church family for his entire life.

• A quilt is hanging on the south wall in Friendship Hall. This quilt was made by the congregation of Rivers United Church to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the United Church in 1940. The quilt became the property of Rev. Wallace and Mabel Donogh when they left this church in 1944. Through some quirky circumstances, the quilt has returned home. It contains the names of all those who were members of this congregation in 1940. It is a real gem! For a more detailed description of the quilt, please go to the About Us page of this website.
